Caribbean Surf Connection
Caribbean surf connection is an organization founded by Jorge D. Mijares and is dedicated to providing support and opportunities for children through surf events, educational courses and work opportunities.
Our goal is to provide underprivileged children with the chance to experience the joy and benefits of surfing in the Dominican Republic. We offer sponsorship of kids which includes; competition entry fee, travel expense and food assistance at each competition. We aim to create a safe and inclusive environment where children can learn and develop their surfing skills, while also fostering personal growth, confidence, and a sense of community.
Caribbean Surf Connection’s Mission
Our mission is to create a vibrant and inclusive community that empowers children in the Dominican Republic through the transformative power of surfing. Our nonprofit group is committed to fostering a deep connection to the ocean, building life skills, and providing valuable job opportunities for the future generation. Our multifaceted approach combines surfing, education, coaching courses, and job placement to create a holistic and sustainable impact.
Caribbean Surf Connection seeks to not only introduce children to the sport of surfing but also instill values such as teamwork, respect for the environment and love for the ocean. We are able to achieve our mission by traveling around the island, hosting 5 events at different locations. We enable kids to participate and enjoy the sport, regardless of their financial circumstances.
2024 Bringing In The New and Improved
We are in the process of becoming a non-profit organization within the Dominican Republic, in order to better help the community. At each event, CSC sponsors up to 20 individual surfers from the Dominican Republic by covering their competition costs, which includes: travel, stay, food and entry fee.
We are increasing the global exposure of our talented youth. We have begun to livestream our events which brings in new sponsorship exposure as well. We have partnered with the O’neill Grom Tour and are working on creating an international travel program for our top surfers to compete in the United States.
We keep our competitions as earth-friendly as possible. We have created partnerships with organizations such as Corito Sostenible to ensure proper recycling and waste management as well as Sonic Soujorn to provide gasless and sustainable energy for our on-site media systems.
